Ceremonies and Teachings
As Keeper of the Stones, Gary continues the long-standing Avebury tradition of honouring the land, the ancestors, and the turning of the seasons. His role bridges the spiritual and the educational — connecting visitors to the ancient energy of the stones through guided tours, talks, and druidic teachings.
Gary was personally taught and guided by the late Arch Druid Terry Dobney, who entrusted him with the knowledge and understanding of ritual practice at Avebury. While the Arch Druid traditionally leads the major observances, Gary has been trained in the ways of ceremony and has experience in leading handfastings, blessings, and seasonal celebrations both in the UK and abroad.
Through his work, he strives to make the ancient wisdom of Avebury accessible to all — whether through a guided walk among the stones, a talk on the history and spirit of the site, or a ritual honouring the cycles of nature. His approach is inclusive, respectful, and rooted in Terry’s wish to serve the community and the sacred landscape of Avebury with integrity and heart.
